Title
UNESCO - Women and Water: An Ethical Issue
Abstract
This essay is one of a series on Water and Ethics published under the International
Hydrological Programme of UNESCO. A Working Group on the Use of Fresh Water
Resources was established under that programme in 1998. Preliminary drafts on
fourteen aspects of this topic were prepared under the guidance of this Working
Group.
This publication is concerned with the ethical issues arising from the special role
of women in water use and from related social and environmental problems. It
discusses both the nature of some of the key problems and the efforts in recent
decades by both inter-government and non-governmental organisations to overcome
these problems.
